A major exhibition to celebrate Birmingham’s pioneering role in the history of photography is planned for 2017
Thresholds, a virtual reality art project by artist Mat Collishaw and photographic historian Pete James will take audiences back over 170 years to the dawn of the photographic era. Virtual Reality headsets will allow us to walk around a recreation of ‘The Model Room' at King Edward's School, New Street in August 1839, exploring one of the earliest exhibitions of photography in England through VR, including some of the earliest photographs made in Birmingham.
A Kickstarter campaign is underway to support this exhibition. More information on the project and the rewards on offer – which range from downloads of digital wallpapers to VIP visit to the exhibition -can be seen at: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1817545913/thresholds-vr
